Position: 3D Laser Scanning Technician

In this role, you will be tasked with capturing site conditions utilizing lidar scanners and various photogrammetry tools, processing scans, and managing web viewer software tasks from our office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits to locations such as petrochemical facilities, construction sites, and commercial buildings to perform reality capture using lidar and photogrammetry equipment, including terrestrial and mobile scanners.
  • Prepare job sites by establishing targets, planning equipment placement, and capturing data according to project requirements.
  • After data collection, execute upload, processing, and registration tasks using software such as Faro Scene, Autodesk ReCap, and NavVis Ivion.
  • Utilize web viewers to set up remote access for clients.
  • Ensure all equipment is ready for operation, including charged batteries and functional memory cards/drives.
  • Archive and back up scan data upon completion of projects.
  • Provide training to clients on scan viewing software, either in person or through virtual meetings.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Faro Scene, Cyclone, LFM, Autodesk ReCap, and NavVis Ivion is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's degree in CAD drafting, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in reality capture and/or surveying is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and carry equipment at client sites for extended periods.
  • Capability to climb ladders and stairs with equipment as necessary.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing 20-30 lbs, and up to 60 lbs for loading and unloading.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Compliance with client site safety protocols.
  • TWIC card may be required for site access, with background checks necessary for acquisition.
