Job Title: Database Administrator II

Chiron Technology Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator II to join our team in the Annapolis Junction, MD area.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual to install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL. The successful candidate will ensure that databases are set up correctly and configured for optimal performance, monitor and analyze database performance, and implement performance tuning techniques to optimize query execution, indexing, and overall system efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain DBMS such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL
  • Ensure databases are set up correctly and configured for optimal performance
  • Monitor and analyze database performance
  • Implement performance tuning techniques to optimize query execution, indexing, and overall system efficiency
  • Develop and manage database backup and recovery strategies
  • Administer user access controls and permissions
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as patching, upgrading, and applying fixes to ensure database stability and security
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline database management tasks
  • Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and fix issues impacting database performance or availability
  • Manage and maintain MongoDB database servers in all environments
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have ten (10) years of experience as a DBA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional DBA experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.

Skills:
  • Manage and maintain MongoDB database servers in all environments
  • Design and implement redundancy and fail-over strategies
  • Monitor and tune database performance
  • Design and implement backup/recovery strategies per RTO / RPO requirements
  • Provide support for software upgrade and patching
