Job Title: Professional Database Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Professional Database Engineer to join our team at Abacus. As a key member of our Enterprise Solution Services team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex SQL Server based infrastructure and database solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement highly available and scalable single and multi-tenant SQL Server environments.
  • Migrate existing databases or instances from legacy infrastructure into newly established virtual environments.
  • Develop procedures, documentation, training, and execution of knowledge transfer to at least two other WVOT staff for all developed and maintained systems within the WVOT hosted SQL Server, OnBase, and Dynamics environments.
  • Provide analytics regarding system health, growth capacity, and other metrics of benefit to WVOT and our customers.
  • Analyze complex queries and execution plans for the determination of need regarding the maintenance of indices to provide optimal performance for various use-cases.
  • Use and instruction in the SQL Server Reporting Services, Power BI, and Google Looker Studio to develop specialized reports both for our customers and for internal reporting.
  • Use and instruction in the SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Data Factories, Biztalk, and other such tools to migrate and transform data through complex ETL.
  • Maintain and enhance ASP.NET and ColdFusion applications leveraging database systems supported by the Engineer, when necessary, alongside other project development team members.
Requirements:
  • At least five years of experience in the following applied knowledge and skill sets: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, 2022, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, 2022, Microsoft SQL Management Studio, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2016, 2019, Microsoft PowerShell 4.0 or greater, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, 2013, and Dynamics 365, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, 2016 and 2018, Microsoft Biztalk Server, Hyland OnBase, Ademero Content Central, IBM Data Studio 4.1, Google Workspace, Google Sheets, Google App Sheets, Google Looker Studio, Visual Studio 2013, 2016 and 2019, C#.NET, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, ADO.NET, Adobe ColdFusion 9, 11, 18.
  • A minimum of five years of paid experience working on projects in the Government sector and a minimum of three years in health care, insurance, or related sector.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of and experience in each of the following use cases: implementation of highly available and scalable single and multi-tenant SQL Server environments, migration of Microsoft Access tables to utilization of Microsoft SQL Server backend instead of local file storage, reconciliation and remediation of Microsoft Dynamics GP ERP billing tables and general Dynamics GP interfacing, knowledge and expertise in the Ademero Content Central Document Management System for the establishment of scanning/document management workflows and secure system integration with Dynamics CRM and other solutions, knowledge and expertise in Hyland OnBase workflow management and data structuring, proper implementation within ASP.NET applications of Entity Framework and ADO.NET (OLE DB and ODBC) data access paradigms appropriate to their intended use cases.
