Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Lutheran Medical Center. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and coordinating physiologic studies of sleep and sleep-related disorders. You will provide care to patients via technology, therapeutic interventions, and coordination of care with other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment and perform all sleep lab procedures
  • Perform patient hook-up and machine calibrations according to department policy
  • Follow department procedures to ensure accurate data collection
  • Comprehend Polysomnographic acquisitions, initiate treatment, and follow decision trees based on findings
  • Score studies and prepare reports for physician analysis and recommendations
  • Record observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events
  • Perform 12-week follow-up phone calls per AASM requirements
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues
  • Participate in equipment care and maintenance
  • Identify and report any abnormalities
  • Conduct patient education and adjust teaching techniques according to patient needs
  • Participate in the inter-scorer reliability program (ISR) and meet scoring QA criteria
Requirements
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RpsgT) with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics OR Registered EEG Technician with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics
  • Basic MS Office and Windows skills
  • Prior experience with Sleep/Works computerized acquisition system preferred
Work Environment

This position requires frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors. You will need to verbally communicate, hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. You will also need to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, and walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
