Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Lutheran Medical Center. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and coordinating physiologic studies of sleep and sleep-related disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment and perform all sleep lab procedures.
  • Perform patient hook-up and machine calibrations according to department policy.
  • Follow department procedures to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Comprehend Polysomnographic acquisitions, initiate treatment, and follow decision trees based on findings.
  • Score studies and prepare reports for physician analysis and recommendations.
  • Record observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events.
  • Perform 12-week follow-up phone calls per AASM requirements.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
  • Participate in equipment care and maintenance.
  • Conduct patient educations and adjust teaching techniques according to patient needs.
  • Participate in the inter-scorer reliability program (ISR) and meet scoring QA criteria.
Requirements
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RpsgT) with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics OR Registered EEG Technician with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics.
  • Basic MS Office and Windows skills.
  • Prior experience with Sleep/Works computerized acquisition system preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
