**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Building & Earth Sciences, Inc. As a key member of our Accounting Department, you will play a critical role in maintaining our financial systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing financial analysis and insights to support business growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Protect company assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls and segregation of duties.
  • Monitor potential liabilities and inform management of corrective action needed.
  • Assist with the accounting of branch operations, control systems, and transaction processing operations.
  • Work with company peers to ensure their understanding and compliance with financial policies.
  • Work within current and future electronic financial systems and help ensure system integrity.
  • Assist with daily and monthly cash and bank reconciliations as required.
  • Assist with periodic billing and assist in collection of Accounts Receivable as required.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable to ensure liabilities are paid in a timely manner and properly recognized in the appropriate accounting period.
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing as required.
  • Assist with maintaining an orderly accounting file system and appropriate records.
  • Assist in ensuring that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a periodic basis and any adjustments are processed timely.
  • Assist in issuing timely and complete financial statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements and tax returns with external accountants.
  • Assist with company financial management reports and analysis of key metrics.
  • Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local taxation and legal requirements.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in accounting.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office or other spreadsheet software.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in related field, at least 8 years preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel or other related spreadsheet software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work, move, or carry objects or materials up to 20 lbs.
  • Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communications in the English language, including the ability to communicate directly and over the telephone and be understood.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a completed BS or MS degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license.
  • Ability to be insured under all applicable Corporation insurance policies.
