Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our team in the Medical Oncology department. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of evidence-based nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver medical care to a diverse range of patients, including those with hematology and oncology conditions.
  • Examine and treat patients independently, collaborating with other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Ensure proper illness and injury management, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
  • Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests as necessary.
  • Advise patients on continuing care and provide education on disease processes, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
Department-Specific Functions

The APRN will work within the Oncology Service Line, responsible for executing care in acute and outpatient settings. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing chemotherapy treatment unit (CTU) coverage, including on-call and cross-coverage.
  • Collaborating with physicians and other providers regarding patient care.
  • Ensuring appropriate medical documentation and responding to emergencies or rapid responses.
  • Assuring patient transfer to appropriate physicians/specialties/hospitals for continuation of care.
  • Collaborating with pharmacy and nursing staff to optimize quality of care and patient time.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing or related field.
  • Florida APRN license or Physician Assistant license.
  • Board certification as APRN from nationally accredited organization.
  • Current Certification in BLS and ACLS.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant advanced practice nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AOCNP certification within one year of employment.
  • Participation in 360-degree peer review process.
  • Submission of annual protocols to practice site.
  • Maintenance of national certification.
  • Attendance at one national conference.
