Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in the financial management of Span-America Medical Systems Inc. This position will be responsible for preparing month-end balance sheet account reconciliations, analyzing vendor accounts to control the DPO metric, and managing the company's IFRS 16 compliance. The successful candidate will also provide customer and product margin analysis as part of the month-end close process and ensure that corporate-wide accounting policies and procedures are implemented and followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Analyze vendor accounts to control the DPO metric
  • Manage the company's IFRS 16 compliance
  • Provide customer and product margin analysis as part of the month-end close process
  • Ensure that corporate-wide accounting policies and procedures are implemented and followed
  • Ensure that internal controls systems and processes are best practice, effective, documented, and operating as designed
  • Supports budget and forecasting activities
  • Coordinate and manage the capital expenditure process for the division
  • Interact with external auditors as needed
  • Oversee maintenance and the integrity of financial systems used to support the business function

Requirements:

  • Must have working knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience with Canadian taxes a plus
  • Ability to advise and assist Controller in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities to build a strong finance team that works closely with operations
  • Ability to manage financial control and be capable of managing dual reporting relationships
  • Understands business implications of decisions
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Meets productivity standards, adhering to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrates knowledge of EEO policy
  • Upholds organizational values
  • Follows policies and procedures

Education, Experience & Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. / B.S.) from a four-year college or university in accounting, finance, or business and 5 to 7 years of related experience in the manufacturing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Computer Skills:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required. Proficiency in an ERP Accounting system, such as Microsoft Dynamics, is preferred

Work Environment:

  • This position works in an environment with moderate noise levels

Travel:

  • None is required for this position
