CNC Machinist Job Description

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology to make humanity a multi-planetary species. As a CNC Machinist, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve this goal by designing, building, and testing the complex systems that power our spacecraft and satellites.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate multi-axis CNC machines, including mills and lathes, to precision-machine complex parts and components.
  • Work with complex, tight-tolerance parts and various materials to ensure high-quality results.
  • Read and work from blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions to complete machining operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new systems and processes.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 6+ years of experience with g-code, setup, operation, and/or programming of CNC mill/lathe machines.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years of horizontal mill experience.
  • 10+ years of lathe experience.
  • 10+ years of CNC programming experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be available for 2nd shift (3:30 PM to 2 AM).
  • Ability to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods - 8 hours min.
