Solar Manufacturing Automation Specialist at SpaceX

SpaceX is on a mission to revolutionize space exploration, driven by the vision of a future where humanity thrives beyond Earth.

As part of our innovative Starlink Solar 2.0 team, the Solar Manufacturing Automation Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance of our advanced solar stringer machinery.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Take full ownership of production outcomes for solar stringer machines, focusing on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Collaborate with the production team to establish comprehensive training programs and standardized operational procedures.
  • Design and implement a proactive maintenance strategy aimed at enhancing long-term machine reliability and uptime.
  • Lead the commissioning of new production assets while managing projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Advocate for and implement 5S methodologies to maintain organized and efficient workspaces.
  • Interpret and utilize system-level schematics and technical drawings across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic domains.
  • Provide support for production devices, including Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and other operational tools.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of automation experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
  • Experience in fast-paced, autonomous work environments.
  • Familiarity with design of experiments and statistical process control.
  • Experience in PLC and HMI programming, particularly with Ladder Logic and Structured Text Language.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment failures effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and organizational skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to meet critical project milestones.
