Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting field activities and collaborating with the Project Manager to ensure the successful execution of multiple small projects or one medium to large-sized project. This position often serves as the primary point of contact and may have supervisory responsibilities for support functions such as Document Control, QA/QC, Project Scheduler, Project Cost Controller, and others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports the Project Manager in managing project cost and schedule, including submitting and approving monthly billings and earned value reports, managing critical path project schedule documents, and analyzing project financial performance.
  • Collaborates with the Superintendent and Project Manager to identify and implement positive changes related to project resources.
  • Reviews and negotiates change orders, tracks status, and manages the procurement process, making recommendations to the Project Manager.
  • Approves field purchase orders for standard purchase packages and oversees the work of direct reports.
  • Ensures a safe work environment and participates in training and certifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years' of experience, or 8 years' of construction-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of construction software such as Primavera, Timberline.
  • Ability to understand, customize, and modify spreadsheets.
  • Requires ability to maneuver in and out of job site trailers and various stages of job site terrains.
  • Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and listen.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must have the ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 20 pounds.
