GI Hospitalist Faculty Job Description

Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) is seeking two Inpatient Gastroenterologists (GI Hospitalists) to enhance the quality and efficiency of inpatient care at OHSU's main University Medical Center. These physicians will join a team of 33 physicians from all gastroenterology specialties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend 20 weeks a year on the GI consult service, navigating inpatient workflows, and investing in improving the quality and efficiency of inpatient care.
  • Oversee 2 days of endoscopy per week and manage an urgent GI clinic designed for patients transitioning from hospital care or those with urgent referrals.
  • Develop specialized expertise in diagnosing and treating inpatient GI disorders, with a particular focus on conditions like GI bleeding.
  • Be involved in quality initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of inpatient and urgent ambulatory GI care.
  • Educate fellows and collaborate with an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to ensure the provision of high-quality care.
