SUMMARY:
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role involves cleaning various areas of the facility, including sterile environments, and ensuring that all surfaces are disinfected as required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces through methods such as wiping, dusting, and mopping.
- Collecting and disposing of trash, waste materials, and bio-hazardous materials safely.
- Maintaining cleanliness of paper and soap dispensers.
- Ensuring hospital equipment and supplies are in good working order.
- Handling draperies and cubicle curtains as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The technician will adhere to the values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication while performing their duties. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying appropriate cleaning methods and products for specific areas.
- Following safety and confidentiality policies and standards.
- Providing excellent customer service through positive interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Performing terminal cleaning procedures in patient rooms and preparing them for new occupants.
- Making recommendations for improvements in sanitation and efficiency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
EXPERIENCE: None required; this is an entry-level position.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to learn and utilize various cleaning applications and products.
- Skill in following directions and organizing work effectively.
- Ability to comprehend simple instructions and communicate effectively.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling numbers.
- Ability to document time accurately and perform basic computer tasks.
