Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Construction Inspector to join our team at Quinn Consulting Services, Inc. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of roadway, structure, and bridge construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and monitor contractor's work efforts to ensure quality control and contract compliance.
  • Conduct regular site visits to inspect and document work progress, including excavation, drainage facilities, roadway surfaces, and structures.
  • Review and report on contractor's daily operations, including materials testing and quality control measures.
  • Oversee and enforce the installation of erosion and sediment controls, highway work zones, and traffic control devices.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, materials notebooks, and pay quantity records.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with Federal labor requirements and regulations for Federal-aid construction projects.
Requirements
  • Must qualify as a TCI-1, TCI-2, or TCI-3.
  • Hold NECEPT Bituminous Asphalt Field Technician Certification and/or PennDOT Concrete Field Technician Certification, as indicated for level of qualification.
  • NICET Certification is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in ECMS - Engineering and Construction Management System.
  • Knowledge of PPCC - PennDOT Project Collaboration Center.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment and iPad, including functional knowledge of associated apps.
  • Experience in roadway, structure, and bridge construction, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation methods, materials, standards, and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret roadway, structure, and bridge plans and specifications.
  • Application of mathematical formulas, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Maintenance of detailed records.
  • Perform and document required materials testing.
  • Effective communication with clients, contractors, and the general public.

Work Environment

This role requires working in an office environment and/or transportation construction field job sites. The position involves routine use of field and standard office equipment, including computers, tablets, phones, photocopiers, digital cameras, filing cabinets, nuclear gauges, surveying tools, and other field-testing equipment materials.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include regular standing, walking, climbing, driving, using hands, and reaching with hands and arms.
