Overview:
The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in managing both direct and indirect material sourcing, ensuring timely delivery and accurate documentation to align with the Master Production Schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with quality system standards relevant to procurement.
- Oversee the supply chain of materials necessary for production operations.
- Identify and resolve material-related issues, facilitating communication with internal stakeholders including Quality Assurance, Operations, and Finance.
- Lead investigations into material discrepancies and manage related documentation.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Procurement Duties:
- Create and issue purchase orders to suppliers, ensuring adherence to approved supplier lists and timely approvals.
- Manage supplier lead times and expedite orders as necessary.
- Maintain a comprehensive tracker for order statuses, lead times, and receipts.
- Identify and source new suppliers based on operational needs.
- Ensure all necessary documentation for materials is received and verified.
- Monitor and adjust open purchase orders and supplier commitments to facilitate timely payments.
- Request and evaluate quotes for materials as needed.
- Collaborate with Global Procurement for significant purchases, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Assist in capital expenditure processes.
Planning Responsibilities:
- Conduct raw material planning for various projects.
- Maintain inventory levels in accordance with organizational policies and objectives.
- Manage item masters, bills of materials, and other supply chain data.
- Support product launch activities as directed.
- Review and manage excess and obsolete inventory, providing data for customer reimbursements.
- Monitor raw material inventory levels to meet targets and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Process materials for destruction when they become obsolete or expired.
- Prepare materials for shipment, including documentation for samples.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in procurement, production planning, or inventory management.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with MRP systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in documentation.
