About Academy of Visual and Performing Arts

We are a 6-12th grade, tuition-free public charter school for students in Fort Worth, Texas. Our mission is to provide a safe, challenging learning environment that cultivates our students' academic and artistic excellence. As a Mathematics Teacher at Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, you will be responsible for ensuring that our campus meets high standards of organizational and academic excellence with a strong focus on driving strong student achievement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement written lesson plans that fulfill the curriculum and program requirements, including differentiation, scaffolds, and formative and summative assessments.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Provide instruction and appropriate learning experiences to students designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, learning activities, instructional materials, equipment, and technologies to build students' content knowledge and skills and to meet the diverse needs of assigned students.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned (or accepted in an approved Alternative Certification Program)
  • English as a Second Language certification preferred
  • Ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of academic and artistic excellence
  • Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Successful criminal background check required
