Job Description

Funky Buddha Management LLC, a leading craft brewery, is seeking a skilled Cellar Operator to join its production team. As a key member of our brewery operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our beers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of yeast handling and fermentation processes
  • Perform cellaring duties, including fermentation management and tank cleaning
  • Operate centrifuges and plate filters for beer clarification
  • Execute treatment plans for specialty beers
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping practices for product-related notes
  • Follow standard operating procedures for fermentation, clarification, carbonation, and packaging
  • Operate flash pasteurizers and maintain sanitary practices in beer processing
  • Perform preventative maintenance on brewhouse and cellar equipment
  • Assist with lab testing and quality assurance activities

Requirements:

  • Strong passion for brewing and desire to advance personal growth in the industry
  • Understanding of brewing aspects, including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitization
  • Strong organizational habits, self-motivated work ethic, and critical thinking/problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility in terms of hours and willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and overtime
  • Computer literacy with understanding of Microsoft Office/spreadsheet programs
  • Ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals and in a wet, noisy, and non-temperature-controlled environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree in natural sciences (e.g., microbiology, biochemistry, food science, engineering, etc.)
  • Minimum one-year experience in commercial production on operations, brewery, or high-volume brew pub
  • Prior packaging, bottling, and racking experience
  • Mechanical experience and aptitude
  • Forklift operation or certification
