Healthcare Access Coordinators play a vital role in delivering outstanding experiences for our patients and their families, making significant contributions to the community.

Key Responsibilities:
A professional in this role will:

  • Register, schedule, and pre-register patients for inpatient, emergency, and outpatient tests and procedures. Educate patients about their insurance benefits, review eligibility, prepare cost estimates, inform patients of potential out-of-pocket expenses, collect payments, and ensure the security of financial transactions. Conduct thorough face-to-face and phone interviews to gather demographic, insurance, medical, and financial information. Schedule services and provide accurate information regarding appointment dates, room availability, physician schedules, and typical procedure durations. Complete necessary questionnaires to assist departments in preparing for patient visits. Utilize screening tools for self-pay patients to identify potential payer sources. Refer patients to financial counselors as needed. Generate and explain Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABN) and Assumption of Financial Responsibility (AFR). Obtain, scan, and index physician orders. Cross-train to support all patient access areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED. One year of customer service experience or relevant higher education. Proficiency in data entry and familiarity with medical terminology. Competence in using computer software, practice management systems, and Windows applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have:

  • At least one year of experience in a hospital, clerical, or billing environment.
