We are seeking a highly skilled Lifeguard Instructor to join our team at the City of Burbank. As a Lifeguard Instructor, you will be responsible for enforcing pool rules and regulations, rescuing swimmers in distress, and instructing classes in diving, swimming, and water safety.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for pool patrons
- Rescue swimmers in distress and administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed
- Instruct classes in diving, swimming, and water safety, including emergency water safety and water sports
- Assist with general maintenance and clean-up activities, including the operation and maintenance of filters and chlorinators
- Conduct tests to determine chlorine and acid levels and check equipment
- Officiate at swim and dive meets
- Knowledge of lifesaving and first aid techniques
- Ability to enforce pool rules and regulations and maintain discipline
- Conduct swim and dive meets and instructional classes
- Operate mechanical equipment used in a large swimming pool
- Be alert, attentive, and exercise good judgment
- Be patient and understanding when dealing with children
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public
- A valid First Aid Certificate that meets Emergency Medical Service Authority requirements
- A valid Water Safety Instructor's Certificate
- A valid Lifeguard Certificate from authorized providers
- Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Communicable Disease Certificates from authorized providers
- A valid California Class C driver's license or equivalent may be required
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to start of employment
