Job Overview

Position Title: Bus Driver

Salary: $115-$165/day

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to facilitate the safe transportation of students to and from educational institutions and extracurricular activities. This role involves adhering to a predetermined route while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all passengers.

Employment Status:

This is a part-time role with Académie Lafayette, classified as a non-exempt position in accordance with U.S. Department of Labor regulations.

Reporting Structure:

The Bus Driver will report directly to the Bus Supervisor/Dispatcher and the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety.
  • Adhere to the designated route and schedule for pickups and drop-offs.
  • Conduct regular safety checks on the vehicle, including tires, brakes, and lights.
  • Refuel the bus when not in service to maintain operational readiness.
  • Safely transport students and other passengers to their destinations.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations to guarantee safe arrival.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle at all times.
  • Report any mechanical or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Ensure the safety of students during boarding and disembarking.
  • Assist students as necessary when getting on and off the bus.
  • Engage positively with students during their commute.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance performed on the bus.
  • Participate in staff meetings and safety training sessions.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
  • Engage in performance evaluations as part of the bus driver assessment process.
  • Maintain an up-to-date driver file including necessary documentation.
  • Report any driving violations that may impact licensing.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents, students, and school staff.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and school officials regarding any concerns.
  • Notify parents of any changes to routes or schedules.
  • Conduct emergency drills and evacuation procedures as required.
  • Submit receipts for all maintenance-related expenditures to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate effectively with City Wide Transportation, Inc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a clean driving record with no recent traffic violations.
  • Preferred experience working with children for two or more years.
  • Ability to adhere to assigned schedules punctually.
  • Must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check is required.
  • Registration and clearance with the Family Care and Safety Registry is necessary.
  • Participation in the DOT drug screening program is mandatory.
  • Willingness to make decisions that enhance the transportation model of Académie Lafayette.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to provide information for background check clearance.
