Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Imaging: Provide high-quality computed tomography (CT) imaging services for medical interpretation and treatment purposes.
  • Patient Positioning and Safety: Safely position patients, set technical factors, and use algorithms for image processing, maintaining national repeat ratios.
  • Image Acquisition and Analysis: Produce routine and complex radiographic CT images without direct supervision, assisting physicians as needed to obtain diagnostic results.
  • Procedure Protocol and Compliance: Demonstrate proper protocol for procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and radiation policies for patient, staff, physician, visitor, and self protection.
  • Radiation Protection and Safety: Utilize radiation protective equipment when exposure is possible, maintaining radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot technical problems, document repairs, and report equipment failure to management.
  • Exam Management and Workflow: Interpret physician orders, acquire clinical information, obtain necessary documentation, and document exams in a timely manner.
  • Communication and Coordination: Coordinate with patient floors, other departments, transport, physician offices, and outlying hospitals to ensure efficient exam management.
  • Adaptability and Patient Care: Demonstrate ability to adapt to changing workload and environment, prioritizing patient waiting times and report turnaround times.
Credentials and Education
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Radiologic Technologist certification
  • Graduate of a two-year program in radiologic technology from an AMA and CAHEA-approved school
  • A minimum of one year hospital experience working as a CT technologist
