Job Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient loading and unloading of shipments and deliveries in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, organization, and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work safely.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate a propane sit-down forklift to transport raw materials and finished goods.
- Sort shipments for destination and group merchandise to be included with or fulfilled in an order.
- Verify piece counts on each pallet and compare to label.
- Material handling of all products, including loading and unloading of raw materials and finished goods.
- Follow manufacturing work orders and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Equipment Used:
- Forklift, rulers, measuring tape, calipers, calculator, handheld tools, power tools.
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment, loading dock, and driveways. Will be working in all weather conditions.
- Hours Worked: 40 hours per week typically 1st shift.
- Days/Week: Monday – Friday.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used:
- Personal protective equipment is regularly required for this position.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Highly motivated with good sound work ethics.
- Must demonstrate safe working practices and possess great attention to detail.
- Team player able to follow instructions from management and peers.
- Ability to learn and operate new equipment.
- Ability to use measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers).
- Strong problem-solving skills and math skills with the capability to calculate square footage and batch size.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year previous forklift experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Shipping and Receiving.
