Job Summary
PacifiCorp is seeking a skilled Electrical Line Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Power Delivery department, you will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing our electrical power lines and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct, maintain, and repair electrical power lines and distribution systems, both overhead and underground, to ensure safe and efficient transmission of electricity.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as line trucks, backhoes, forklifts, trenchers, overhead cranes, and wire pulling equipment to build new lines or maintain existing electric systems.
  • Work with blasting and explosive materials and devices, and climb poles to construct, repair, or maintain electric line equipment or string, splice, and sag wire on live or dead circuits.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and restore electric service due to line faults, isolated customer outages, and other emergency outages caused by storms, floods, and accidents.
  • Train and instruct apprentices in all phases of line work, proper use of tools, and operating and maintaining equipment in accordance with safety rules, electrical code, and regulations.
  • Perform switching and other mechanical duties in substations as required, and install and maintain street light systems.
  • Patrol and inspect substations, transmission, and distribution lines and equipment, and make a report of findings.
  • Test electrical load with special test equipment on primary and secondary circuits and make corrections as necessary to maintain proper voltages.
  • Make a complete record of mileage reports, trouble orders, and work performed, time sheets, material reports, line patrol reports, and others as required.

Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or proof of equivalent.
  • Journeyman Lineman certification, including completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman.
  • Must meet examining board review of skills and experience and will be required to pass testing through Rocky Mountain Power.
  • Candidate must have hot stick training and experience.
  • Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License.

Physical Demands
The job duties of Lineman require lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead, carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands, and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertional force. Job duties of the Lineman require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body, and overhead. Additional requirements of the Lineman position include forceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects; balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities; manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance and sustained awkward postures.
