Job Title: Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at ADAPT Community Network. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in evaluating and treating students with developmental and intellectual disabilities to facilitate rehabilitation and independence in daily living skills.

Job Summary:

Under general direction, the Occupational Therapist will be responsible for evaluating and treating students to establish learning and performance capabilities and develop a treatment plan to attain established goals. The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy and 1 year of prior experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate children referred to the program to establish learning and performance capabilities and develop a treatment plan to attain established goals.
  • Develop a treatment plan and goal based on assessment.
  • Select educational, recreational, and social activities to aid students in adjusting to their disability and teach adaptive skills necessary to perform daily living and/or vocational tasks.
  • Participate in in-service education for other patient care personnel relevant to techniques and objectives of the program.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews as required by each program.
  • Integrate therapeutic intervention techniques into programs or homes of persons served through consultation with parent/guardian and staff at team meetings, case conferences, or through other informal contacts.
  • Document therapy activities and results on students records, assist in overall evaluation and rehabilitation of their medical/psychiatric condition by conferring with teachers, social workers, nurses, and families.
  • Record progress on all active cases in therapy, monitor therapy status, and make appropriate recommendations as changes occur.
  • Refer students to other clinical services if such referral is felt appropriate.
  • Design, make, and fit adaptive devices for student use such as splints, shoes or braces.
  • Train and instruct program staff as required.
  • Assist with other duties i.e. arrival, dismissal, feeding, using the restroom, and classroom management.
  • Provide supervision to students and Occupational Therapy Assistants as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and order supplies as required.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • 1 Year of prior Occupational Therapist experience preferred.
