The DC Equipment Associate role within the Distribution Center at Ocean State Job Lot is a critical position that requires a high level of attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare Robotic Arm and Print and Apply equipment for operation, ensuring they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Freight Handling and Transportation: Transport freight using power equipment, including movement from staging areas to conveyor and removal of pallets from the area.
- Communication and Teamwork: Communicate with other team members to ensure proper freight is brought to staging areas, and work collaboratively to meet daily schedules.
- Quality Control and Verification: Verify freight meets Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) guidelines prior to plastic pallet staging, and inspect the output of machines to identify any issues.
- Labeling and Inventory Management: Scan License Plate Numbers to ensure correct information is sent to multiple databases, and adjust Print and Apply equipment as needed based on freight height and SOP guidelines.
- Warehouse Organization and Maintenance: Sort wood and plastic pallets at disassembly zones, transport empty plastic pallets to the staging area, and maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Machine Performance and Settings: Monitor and control machine performance and settings, and be comfortable operating a Programmable Logic Controller.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Complete all necessary records, reports, and logs in a timely and accurate manner.
- Education and Experience: High school degree or equivalent is required, and previous machine operating experience in a warehouse facility or similar relevant experience is preferred.
- Language and Communication Skills: English speaking, reading, and comprehension skills are essential, and familiarity with Material Handling Equipment is required.
- Attributes and Skills: Effective communication, teamwork, self-motivation, and passion for online collaboration are essential for success in this role.
The DC warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high-volume distribution center.
Responsible for physical activities including using equipment, positioning self to properly complete tasks, ascending and descending to heights of 20 feet or more safely and without limitation, as well as moving and transporting merchandise on a frequent basis.
Should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis, bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head, and work primarily in a DC environment.
