Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transporter - Patient Transport to join our team at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, supplies, and equipment throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients by schedule and on request, utilizing escort or wheeled transport equipment.
  • Transport materials such as supplies, specimens, records, linen, trash, confidential documents, and equipment.
  • May be responsible for conference room set-up, including equipment and patient care equipment transfers.
  • May clean wheeled transport equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Entry-level position; prior patient care experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs required.
Working Conditions
  • Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment (i.e. stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.).
  • Frequent reaching/grasping.
  • Occasional bending/stooping.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 25 lbs. force. Occasional up to 50 lbs. force.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

PeaceHealth requires a completed Primary Vaccine Series (e.g., 2 dose monovalent Pfizer, Moderna or Novavax series or 1 dose J&J vaccine series) or be Up to Date (receiving the most recent Pfizer/Moderna bivalent vaccine/booster) for COVID-19 vaccination prior to their start date. PeaceHealth has a medical and religious exemption request process for those that are unable to receive the COVID-19 primary vaccine series due to medical/religious reasons.
