Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at the Town of Vernon. As a key member of our Building Department, you will be responsible for designing and implementing public works projects, including highway, street, and sidewalk constructions, drainage improvements, and recreational fields.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and designs for public works projects
  • Review public works construction bids for conformity to specifications
  • Oversee approved projects and perform technical reviews
  • Provide technical information and assistance to town departments, boards, and commissions
  • Investigate drainage problems and complaints, and prepare design changes as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Two years of civil engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer or certification as an Engineer-in-Training under CSG, Ch. 391
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license
Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic, with frequent outdoor work required for inspections and site visits. The employee must be able to work in various weather conditions and be exposed to moderate to loud noise levels.
