Overview

As an Automotive Service Consultant, you will be the first point of contact for customers seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services. Your role is to engage with clients, assess their automotive needs, and facilitate the service process efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice to customers regarding essential services for routine vehicle upkeep.
  • Identify mechanical issues through effective questioning and visual inspections.
  • Discuss inspection findings with customers, recommend necessary repairs, and prepare detailed service orders.
  • Generate repair orders that outline time estimates, costs, and labor requirements.
  • Document customer concerns clearly to assist technicians in diagnosing issues.
  • Communicate the services performed and associated charges to customers transparently.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints professionally.
  • Schedule service appointments and gather customer and vehicle information in advance.
  • Welcome customers promptly and gather necessary vehicle details.
  • Conduct test drives with customers to verify concerns or direct them to technicians.
  • Review service history, inspect vehicles, and suggest additional services as needed.
  • Educate customers on vehicle maintenance and the importance of adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Provide accurate written estimates for parts and labor.
  • Establish and communicate expected service completion times.
  • Obtain customer approval for repairs and provide them with a copy of the service order.
  • Determine payment methods and secure necessary credit approvals.
  • Notify service personnel of incoming work and monitor repair progress throughout the day.
  • Communicate any changes in estimates or timelines to customers, ensuring proper authorization for additional work.
  • Implement and uphold a service marketing strategy.
  • Review completed repair orders to ensure all work is documented and authorized.
  • Ensure vehicles are parked securely and keys are stored appropriately.
  • Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Handle inquiries regarding appointments and ongoing work via phone.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and maintain a tidy work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of six months to one year of relevant experience or training; or a combination of education and experience.
Language Proficiency
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines and operating instructions. Proficient in writing reports and communicating effectively with groups.
Mathematical Skills
  • Competence in basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
Reasoning Skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and solve practical problems in various situations.
  • Ability to analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Certifications
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications.
