Job Summary

The University of Massachusetts, Amherst is seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join the Somneuro Lab, a renowned research team focused on the role of sleep in memory across development and aging. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and analysis of studies investigating the neural mechanisms underlying sleep benefits to cognition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments with young children, including MRI, behavioral, and sleep physiology data collection, data processing, and analysis.
  • Train and supervise undergraduate students and project assistants, ensuring the highest level of research quality and integrity.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including data management, scheduling meetings, and assisting with purchasing and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with research protocols and compliance, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Contribute to data dissemination, including poster presentations and manuscript submissions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as psychology, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Previous research experience with human subjects, including experience with MRI, EEG/polysomnography data collection.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently with keen attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize goals, collaborate well to formulate plans and objectives, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience working with children in some capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing research assistants or other staff, with experience collecting MRI, EEG/polysomnography data.
  • Strong computational and programming skills, with experience in data analysis and statistical software.
Working Conditions
  • This position requires flexibility and mobility, with work taking place at various locations on campus and visits to participant homes.
  • This position requires placing electrodes, monitoring EEG waves, and therefore requires a high level of visual acuity.
