Associate Chief Nursing Officer

Overview:
Mercy Medical Center, a trusted and respected healthcare organization, is seeking an exceptional Associate Chief Nursing Officer to join our team. As a transformational leader, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Nursing Officer in achieving our Nursing Strategic Plan, which aligns with our mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CNO to establish and uphold cultures of nursing excellence throughout the division.
- Continually find innovative ways to increase patient satisfaction scores and other quality metrics, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement action plans to address issues and improve outcomes.
- Maintain a robust working knowledge of Magnet and the initiatives needed to be successful in redesignation.
- Support the CNO in cultivating evidence-based decision-making in a strong shared governance structure.
- Partner with the CNO in leadership initiatives that support professional practice and continual process improvement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in the organization, ensuring effective and efficient use of all resources.
- Monitor the budget and control variances, including direct labor, materials, and supplies, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Use analytics to standardize services, processes, and practices where appropriate to improve efficiency and maximize continuity of patient care.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all State/Federal and JCAHO standards, as evidenced by successful surveys.
- Lead by example, coaching and mentoring direct reports, analyzing and evaluating ongoing initiatives, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and retain high-level talent, creating an environment that fosters staff and leader satisfaction.
- Engage in processes that develop and reward high performers, addressing performance improvement needs through coaching, accountability plans, and disciplinary action.
- Advocate for implementing evidence-based practice and a culture of clinical inquiry, supporting, promoting, and integrating research activities within the Division.
- Foster a culture of innovation, contributing to nursing nationally.
- Review, approve, communicate, and implement clinical protocols, policies, and procedures to facilitate efficient and effective practices.
Qualifications:
- MSN required; Doctorate preferred.
- Minimum 7 years experience of comprehensive expertise in operational execution.
- Leadership experience in a complex health organization.
- Main areas of responsibility include medical and surgical units, intensive care unit, intermediate care unit, emergency services, maternal-child health, and the staffing office. Perioperative experience is preferred but not required.
