Our hospital, UT Health Tyler, is a 502-bed facility that specializes in advanced acute care medicine. We have a 24-hour ER with a Level 1 trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center, making us a leader in healthcare in the region.

We're looking for a team player who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care. As a Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician, you'll work under the supervision of nursing and medical staff to assist patients with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, and eating. You'll also be responsible for observing patients' progress, obtaining and recording vital signs, and collecting specimens for lab tests.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, and eating
  • Observe patients' progress and prepare reports for nursing and medical staff
  • Obtain and record patients' vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests
  • Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties
  • Measure and record patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines
  • Assist patients with range of motion and draw blood
  • Assist in providing treatments to patients and perform technical procedures, such as feeding tube and catheter administration
  • Coordinate daily activities for assigned unit and provide general clerical and administrative support

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification required
  • Must maintain active certification with the State of Texas
  • Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice
  • BLS required

Preferred Job Requirements
  • 5 years' experience in acute or long-term care
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy
