Position Overview
As a Large Commercial Underwriter II, your primary responsibility will be to assess and underwrite commercial lines business, ensuring alignment with our financial objectives. You will manage a portfolio valued between $15-25 million while mentoring Underwriter I's and trainees. Your expertise will be crucial in evaluating risk acceptability, determining pricing strategies, adhering to underwriting guidelines, and fostering strong relationships with agencies in your designated regions. You will also play a vital role in refining our underwriting processes and collaborating with various departments to enhance our offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting thorough analysis and underwriting of a $15-25 million portfolio to achieve financial targets.
- Supporting the Senior Underwriter team in meeting business objectives through informed decision-making and adherence to best practices.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with producers and nurturing existing partnerships.
- Collaborating with the broader Commercial Lines team and other departments to innovate and improve our products and services.
- Overseeing, training, and mentoring Underwriting Assistants while providing guidance to Underwriter I's.

Qualifications
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial insurance.
- Professional insurance designations are advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
