Role Summary:
We are in search of a Central Processing Specialist for our Treasure Valley Labs. This is a full-time evening position, consisting of an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday. In this capacity, you will leverage your existing phlebotomy and laboratory technician expertise to make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will oversee and manage the operations of the central processing department within the clinical laboratory. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and volume of all clinical laboratory specimens from both inpatient and outpatient sources, whether for in-house testing or external reference laboratories. Additional responsibilities include managing billing functions for reference labs, registering patient specimens from external locations, and collaborating with TVL laboratories on all specimens received for testing. You will also serve as a resource for clinical staff regarding laboratory test inquiries and assist with the ordering of laboratory tests in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. This position reports directly to the POCT Laboratory Coordinator.
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Some college education or an associate degree is preferred.
- Courses involving laboratory work are advantageous.
- Prior experience in a hospital environment or reference laboratory is preferred.
