We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician I to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of laboratory results, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities- Perform clinical testing in assigned sections, including general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology, with a focus on quality control, performance improvement, and preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Recognize abnormal critical values and follow proper guidelines for notifying medical team members of results.
- Perform clerical, general, and phlebotomy duties related to daily laboratory operations.
- Provide and dispense blood products as requested by medical staff.
- Associate's degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience.
- Successful completion of an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course or equivalent.
- 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution, including 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses.
- At least three months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
- No experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS or other organizations approved by HHS.
- Six months of approved clinical laboratory experience, including a clinical rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
- Board certification or eligibility within one year of hire.
This is a full-time position with a TBD work schedule. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is committed to providing exceptional patient care and service.
