Job Summary

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Manager of Museum Community Engagement and Outreach. This key role will be responsible for developing and implementing a diverse range of programs aimed at engaging the campus community, residents of Las Vegas, K-12 students, and the general public with the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to plan, execute, and oversee a diverse range of programs, including research opportunities, workshops, lectures, events, student initiatives, and other museum activities.
  • Manage various programs to foster engagement with students, faculty, community partners, curators, artists, historians, lecturers, and visitors to ensure a positive museum experience.
  • Oversee facility rentals, organize K-12 programming and field trips, and work with the Museum editor to create engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Conduct museum tours, train staff, volunteers, and interns to ensure a high-quality visitor experience, and represent the Museum in various off-campus initiatives.
  • Assist the Executive Director in volunteer/intern training, maintain the museum's daily operations, contribute to collections care, art handling, installation, curation, and event planning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • 1-3 years of programming/events experience within a museum, gallery, or other arts institution.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
  • Demonstrate support for diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, and participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience working directly with artists, curators, researchers, galleries, K-12 teachers, and students.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience working within a college campus.
