Key Responsibilities- Pre-Surgical Preparation: Prepare animals for anesthetic procedures, including pre-op medications, induction/intubation, and preparing surgical sites.
- Post-Operative Care: Manage the post-op care of animals, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Surgical Support: Maintain the prep room, assemble surgical supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, and prepare the surgical instrument table.
- Record Keeping: Perform timely and accurate record keeping and data collection.
- Surgical Procedures: Assist in performing surgical procedures with veterinary supervision and train surgical staff.
- Research Support: Assist in protocol design and support program leadership to execute all milestones of a research project.
- Animal Care: Provide daily care and support to laboratory animals.
- Education: Associate Degree plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of medications calculations used in laboratory animals, good understanding of safety protocols for clinical environment and animal care, and good knowledge of equipment and techniques used in the surgical setting.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, ability to execute medical orders and research protocol instructions without supervision, and ability to perform anesthesia, surgical procedures on laboratory animals with supervision.
