Position Summary

The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing medium to large-scale and intricate projects. This role entails significant technical authority and comprehensive work responsibilities, alongside limited administrative duties, while supervising a team of Electrical Engineers and Designers. The Lead Electrical Engineer may delegate tasks and evaluate the work of junior personnel, and can also serve as the Lead Engineer, managing all technical and scheduling aspects related to the assigned project. The Chief Electrical Engineer periodically reviews work to ensure objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafts or assesses project specifications for the discipline.
  • Creates or evaluates requisitions for inquiries to support the procurement of equipment, materials, and subcontracting.
  • Approves technical evaluations for bids on equipment, materials, and subcontracting in collaboration with the Procurement Department.
  • Designs and reviews layouts for switchgear and MCC buildings.
  • Develops and/or assesses one-line diagrams, area classifications, and layouts as necessary.
  • Supervises and observes factory acceptance testing of equipment.
  • Examines plot plans and facilities to determine electrical requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison with client personnel regarding electrical operations.
  • Reviews and endorses vendor documentation.
  • Prepares or evaluates engineering and design status reports, logs, work plans, and project discrepancies.
  • Ensures the discipline scope of work aligns with project specifications and proposal documents.
  • Accepts both short-term and long-term assignments as requested by the Chief Electrical Engineer.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with natural gas industry standards and codes from organizations such as IEEE, NEMA, NFPA (NEC), API, AGA, ISA, ANSI, etc., with the ability to apply these standards to power and control system designs.
  • Typically requires 8+ years of proven experience in pipeline facilities.
  • Proficient in computer systems within an engineering context.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SKM software is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer designation preferred.
