Job Summary
We are seeking a talented individual with a strong background in embedded software design using C/C++ on Linux to take on the role of Software Lifecycle Engineering Manager. In this position, you will leverage your Engineering Management expertise to elevate our Lifecycle Engineering team, focusing on enhancing productivity and achieving excellence. Your proficiency in troubleshooting software and understanding user interface and communication challenges will be essential.

This role emphasizes three main areas: Software Project Management, Engineering Team Leadership, and Technical Development.
  • Most of your time will be allocated to managing software projects, particularly maintenance tasks for embedded and Linux software. This includes tracking tasks and defects, preparing reports for stakeholders, and engaging with customers to address software concerns.
  • A significant portion of your responsibilities will involve leading the engineering team, overseeing software developers and testers, delegating tasks, and nurturing team growth.
  • The remaining time will be dedicated to technical responsibilities, including embedded software development, structured problem-solving, and utilizing debugging tools.
This critical position supports all Precision Fastening Tools and Controllers product lines across our assembly plants and supplier locations. You will lead by example, demonstrating effective people management, prioritizing issues, and collaborating with your team to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop essential software sub-systems, utilizing innovative technologies to drive growth and deliver exceptional customer value.
  • Address customer-reported issues, rectify software defects, and assess new functionalities as part of business development.
  • Establish standard practices for Lifecycle Engineering tasks; refine and adhere to best practices in software development.
  • Engage with customers to diagnose issues in their environments, understand challenges, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Monitor requests from field operations and development teams to ensure timely responses and effective issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with leadership to realize a vision for growth through innovation and customer value delivery.
  • Participate in developing business growth strategies and large projects to achieve business objectives.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, along with 10+ years of experience in embedded software design and support.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team of software developers in a dynamic, high-reliability environment, with proven skills in planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in programming languages: C, C++ (required); familiarity with Node and React JS is a plus.
  • Expertise in developing for Linux and embedded platforms; proficient in Windows.
  • Experience in application and system programming for communication via various interfaces.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Hybrid work arrangement with travel up to 30% to engage with customers and partners.
  • US Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident
