Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the most appropriate radiographic technique and position patients using immobilization and support devices to ensure optimal film quality.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment, immobilization, and support devices as necessary, using tact and courtesy at all times.
  • Determine the appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy.
  • Secure patient history and record it on the appropriate form for radiologists' information.
  • Operate radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable, computed radiography, and PACS equipment to ensure quality examinations.
  • Operate portable radiographic equipment in patients' rooms or surgery as required.
  • Load imaging cassettes where indicated.
  • Adhere to department standards of radiographic quality.
  • Label all images appropriately following department-established criteria and standards.
  • Use appropriate tech markers on all radiographic images.
  • Check radiographic quality with quality control designates prior to patients' dismissal.
  • Document pertinent and required information on performance improvement logs and data sheets.
  • Deliver patient care and adhere to department standards of continued quality improvement.
  • Maintain a timely flow of patients in room assignments or work areas.
  • Transport patients when indicated to meet customer needs.
  • Secure patient history and record it on the appropriate form for radiologists' information.
  • Maintain positive customer interaction, including proper phone etiquette.
  • Follow in-and-out patient identification policy.
  • Prepare radiographic/fluoroscopic rooms by ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
  • Prepare mixtures and/or contrast media following department protocols.
  • Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining continued awareness of safety hazards.
  • Adhere to safety practices and provide a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Report issues through established channels and participate in safety initiatives.
  • Develop leadership skills and professionalism through participation in department and/or hospital-based committees and continuing education programs.
  • Attend to personal work schedules in a consistent and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate self-direction by identifying learning needs and establishing self-development activities.
  • Complete all development goals and departmental inservices and competencies within the timeframe.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Work independently while maintaining adaptability and flexibility for change.
  • Identify problems and take steps toward resolution.
  • Demonstrate rapport and assist others when necessary.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical functions.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology.
  • Previous radiology experience is desirable.
  • This position requires recognizing the needs and behaviors of various age groups of patients treated, including understanding child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior, and signs of normal aging.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Radiology Information Computer System.
  • Ability to anticipate patient, employee, and department needs and refer for action.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Licensed Radiographic Technologist by the IDNS/IEMA.
  • CPR Certification.
  • ARRT Registry eligible.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Exposed to radiation.
  • Ability to operate portable equipment.
  • Ability to deal with extremely ill patients.
  • Ability to communicate with patients.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible work hours.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency call-back.
  • Ability to participate in 'on-call' programs and be available to department needs with minimal notice.
  • Ability to do light, medium, or heavy lifting.
  • Ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgment skills.
  • Ability to practice high-quality patient care and demonstrate technical competence.
  • Ability to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities.
  • Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as film processing chemicals.
  • Ability to attend out-of-town site visits to view equipment.
Pay Range

$28.20 - $42.30

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including shift differentials for PM, Nights, Weekends (based on job profile), 401(k) company contribution, 401(k) employer match, and opportunity for yearly merit increases within the salary range.
