Senior Designer Job Description

At KTGY, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Designer to join our Chicago Studio. As a key member of our design team, you'll collaborate with clients, staff, and outside agencies to deliver high-quality, on-time project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Studio managers to develop project design solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and consultant teams to elaborate concept designs and project opportunities.
  • Lead project coordination efforts, ensuring seamless execution and timely completion.
  • Author design concepts and lead their development through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, directing and mentoring junior staff while maintaining design integrity.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients and outside agencies during design phases.
  • Perform preliminary code analysis and research new code and zoning regulations as necessary.
  • Compile and submit projects to city planning departments.
  • Attend public hearings and agency meetings if required.
  • Review and participate in project billings.
  • Verify accuracy of own work and the work of others.
  • Contribute to budget and scheduling review meetings.
Requirements:
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, and MS Office.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience.
  • 4-year Architectural degree preferred and/or combination of required education and experience.
  • Previous lead design experience on multi-family residential projects or demonstration of similar design experience.
