Position Overview

This role involves engaging in the automation, design, development, engineering, enhancement, and validation of innovative projects within a refinery setting.

The position necessitates a solid grasp of engineering principles and project management, along with a comprehensive understanding of process controls, instrumentation, electrical power distribution, networks, and computing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support to enhance the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems.
  • Design systems to ensure accurate specifications for instruments and control system components, while evaluating existing process automation and designs.
  • Contribute to the design of new processes and equipment, offering recommendations for enhancements.
  • Establish systems for the precise specification of instruments and control system components.
  • Automate controls associated with innovative chemical process equipment.
  • Assist or lead root cause failure analysis for electrical equipment and develop standard practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to instrumentation, controls, networks, and electrical systems, while proposing and implementing improvements.
  • Ensure that designs and installations are safe, maintainable, and comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Provide guidance on equipment selection for both new and existing systems.
  • Assess off-the-shelf and vendor solutions.
  • Analyze electrical equipment testing reports and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Support operational efforts to manage contract electrical equipment testing.
  • Analyze, monitor, and trend electrical testing data, making predictions and recommendations based on this information.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience in controls within the Oil & Gas and chemicals industry or similar sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in controls and automation.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical control systems, testing procedures, requirements, methodologies, and sequencing.
