The Housekeeping Aid position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff at the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, physical stamina, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care areas, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing surfaces, equipment, and furniture.
- Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and pressure washers, to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Empty trash and recyclables, and transport them to designated collection areas.
- Clean restrooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms, ensuring they meet acceptable standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as cleaning windows, dusting, and polishing furniture and fixtures.
- Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this job.
- Subject to a background/suitability investigation.
- May serve a probationary period.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Working ConditionsWork is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposure to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather. PPE may be required in some circumstances as exposure to possible contagious diseases, blood, and bloody secretion are inherent to this position. Care is required to avoid serious injuries (i.e., broken bones) when working on ladders or using heavy equipment or handling hazardous materials.
