Job Summary

The Town of Cave Creek, AZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Building Official to lead the Building Safety Division. As a key member of the Development Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings and structures within the town.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the Building Safety Division, including plan review, inspections, and permitting.
  • Perform technical building code review and fire code analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including developers, construction professionals, and the public.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable and current codes and regulations.
  • Prepare and present staff reports to the Development Services Director and Building Board of Appeals.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in building trades, building safety, code enforcement, and fire code plan reviews.
  • Valid class D Arizona driver's license.
  • Certified Building Official designation from the International Code Council (ICC) within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction technology, or related field.
  • Supervisory experience.
