POSITION SUMMARY
The Mortgage Lending Specialist plays a crucial role in the mortgage division, focusing on generating home loans and fostering both new and existing client relationships. This position is essential for maintaining high credit quality and maximizing fee income, ultimately contributing to an exceptional client experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Loan Generation and Business Development - 80%
- Generate high-quality mortgage loans in accordance with bank policies and growth objectives, while actively seeking new business opportunities and enhancing existing client relationships.
- Address inquiries from potential clients regarding various mortgage and construction loan options, providing comprehensive information about the organization's lending practices.
- Facilitate the mortgage application process by collecting necessary documentation, submitting applications, obtaining approvals, and ensuring clear communication with the processing team.
- Collaborate with other departments within the bank to foster strong client relationships.
- Utilize origination software and underwriting automation to input data accurately.
- Work closely with processing and servicing teams to exceed client expectations.
- Manage the lender's social media presence in coordination with the marketing department.
Regulatory Compliance - 10%
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that all documentation is compliant and deadlines are met.
- Verify the accuracy of mortgage loan disclosures sent to borrowers.
- Assist in rectifying any compliance issues related to mortgage loans.
- Serve as a resource for bank personnel regarding mortgage loan inquiries.
- Provide recommendations for operational improvements within the department.
- Participate in risk assessment reviews as needed.
- Stay updated on mandatory training requirements.
Additional Responsibilities - 10%
- Achieve referral targets as set by management on an annual basis.
- Support various bank activities as part of the broader team.
- Promote a positive and energetic workplace culture by embodying the company's core values and mission.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee will frequently move throughout the office to access files and attend meetings. The ability to operate a computer, handle objects, and communicate effectively is essential. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required, along with the ability to travel as necessary. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
