Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in the preparation and care of surgical patients, working closely with our surgical team to ensure the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients, including preparing the operating room and ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Work closely with the surgical team to ensure that all patients receive the highest level of care, including maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring that all necessary instruments and equipment are available.
- Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists, serving as a role model and providing guidance and support as needed.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field, ensuring that all team members maintain a sterile environment.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, applying basic knowledge of instrumentations to several cases.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians, adhering to standards including but not limited to unit and hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or maintains an accredited Surgical Technologist certification (NCCT or NBSTSA).
- Or, provides evidence of the successful completion of an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the United States Military.
- Level I- Entry level position for new graduates of Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologists with 0 to 18 months experience.
- Level II- Requires 6 to 12 months of full-time equivalent Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.
