Job Title: VP, Payroll

Green Leaf Payroll & Business Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Payroll and Tax Operations to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of payroll and tax operations within our payroll bureau.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the entire payroll operations process to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all clients.
  • Lead and mentor the payroll and tax operations management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of the UKG Ready platform to streamline payroll processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of MasterTax software and outsourced Tax vendor to ensure accurate tax calculations, filings, and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations and address any issues promptly.
  • Stay current with changes in payroll and tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company's operations remain compliant.
  • Analyze payroll data and generate reports for senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Handle escalated payroll and tax-related inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the overall client experience, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  • Research the implications of tax laws and advise clients on tax-related issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Comparable work experience in a Director-level payroll or tax position.
  • 10+ years of payroll tax experience with at least 5 years of mid-level compliance work required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a management role required.
  • Certification in payroll (e.g., CPP) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced experience with the UKG Ready platform is essential.
  • Proficiency in MasterTax software is required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, Word, and Access.
  • High-level technical expertise in the full range of tax or payroll software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a high-performing team.
  • Ability to identify outside consulting needs and present financial and business case metrics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with all personnel within the organization and facilitate communication effectively.
