Job Title: Academic Advising Administrator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Advising Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expert administrative support and assume minor administrative duties within the framework of established policies. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and is information-sensitive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide skilled administrative assistance and assume minor administrative duties within established policies.
  • Advise enrolled students regarding retention services and issues concerning academics offered by the University.
  • Independently coordinate routine office or departmental clerical work according to established procedures.
  • Process varied, complex, or large volumes of material.
  • Perform tasks requiring skill in keyboarding and computer usage.
  • Transcribe varied material from dictation or draft.
  • Compose routine correspondence and compile reports.
  • Maintain various records and filing systems.
  • Handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Serve as receptionist, route mail, make appointments, maintain schedules, and travel arrangements.
  • Serve as a student service representative in the department.
  • Maintain inventory and order materials for the department.
  • Assist in responding to state reports.
  • Advise current students about concerns/issues that might affect completing academic degree requirements.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent with business courses.
  • Three years administrative experience or combination of experience and/or training.
  • Keyboarding 50 wpm; standard office machines; computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College or business school courses.
  • More than three years experience, with part at SRSU or other related experience.
  • Word processing, database, and spreadsheet computer program skills.
Working Conditions:

Usual office conditions; standard hours. Position is Security Sensitive.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
