The Safety Manager at LSG Sky Chefs is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive safety program to protect employees, contractors, and visitors within the facility. This role ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations, reduces workplace accidents and injuries, and fosters a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with airline security personnel, airport authorities, and local, state, and federal law enforcement authorities.
- Conduct audits and mock OSHA and Ramp Safety Audits at CSCs to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Analyze trends in employee injuries, aircraft, auto, and property damages and implement action plans to reduce damages and injuries.
- Provide accident/injury investigation and root cause analysis training for CSCs.
- Actively participate in safety meetings with business partners and attend customer training for certification of aircraft doors, galleys, etc.
- Oversee the collection and trending analysis of all employee injuries, aircraft, auto, and property damages.
- Implement action plans to support proactive measures to reduce employee injuries and aircraft damages.
- Administer regulatory compliance with ramp issues dealing with OSHA, FAA, EPA, DOT, California OSHA, and airline customer requirements.
- Participate with airline manufacturers to design new trucks for new aircraft.
- Model corporate values and participate in groups, initiatives, and advisory bodies.
- Proactively support other departments and functions as the Subject Matter Expert.
- Strong understanding and applicability of Employee Safety, Ramp Safety, and Ground Handling Safety Area (OSHA, FAA, DOT).
- Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining relationships with airline security personnel, airport authorities, local, state, and federal law enforcement authorities.
- Ability to work with legal counsel to prepare cases and gather and preserve evidence for presenting.
- Demonstrated ability to influence managers by establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships.
- Good communication, presentation skills, and organizational ability.
- Ability to interact, communicate, and train management at all levels.
- Excellent language and writing abilities.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications.
- May require up to 70% travel.
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or Aviation Ground Safety preferred.
- In addition, five to seven years operations and safety experience required.
