Melt Production Supervisor

Emerson Group is seeking a highly skilled Melt Production Supervisor to join our team at the Appleton Foundry. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the melt department, ensuring the production of high-quality castings, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the melt department, including production, quality, and safety.
- Monitor and control department costs, quality methods, and requirements.
- Ensure the effective use of production hours, labor skills, and furnaces.
- Participate in planning and staffing requirements.
- Maintain and enforce safety programs and review safety records to uphold company policies.
- Be accountable for the melt department, relating to departmental costs, quality, equipment efficiency, and quantity of production.
- Assist management in general foundry problems, whether it be quality problems or capital expenditures for the department.
- Ensure and audit 5s+1 policies in the department.
- Provide leadership and administer company rules, regulations, union rules, and policies.
- Assume responsibility and exercise means to direct, coordinate, train, and supervise all Melt Department operations across all shifts.
Requirements:
- Minimum of Two (2) years Melting experience in a foundry - Induction Melting Preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment.
- A high school diploma is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Available to work weekends to support production.
- Direct, train, and maintain the repair of furnaces, ladles, and pouring spouts, using refractory, ensuring that these components operate efficiently and safely, helping to prevent heat loss, corrosion, and damage.
- Responsible for managing a team of skilled technicians, you will be tasked with coordinating the installation, and maintenance of high-performance refractory materials used in a variety of Melt Shop applications, using union employees as well as outside contractors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coreless induction furnaces, DISA Vertical molding, and Isocure core making a strong plus.
- Five (5) years' experience in a foundry preferred.
- Some college and/or additional training/Metallurgy preferred.
