Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - San Luis Obispo

Transitions-Mental Health Association is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team in San Luis Obispo. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to clients enrolled in our Full Service Partnership program.

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Clinical Director, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide trauma-informed psychiatric care, including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic services. You will work collaboratively with our team to ensure comprehensive care and support for our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial psychiatric and diagnostic evaluations and follow-up examinations as needed
  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses based on the DSM V
  • Treat patients using a trauma-informed care approach
  • Review and approve intakes, case reviews, and treatment plans
  • Consult with clinical, medical, and direct service staff to coordinate care for clients
  • Provide cross-coverage for other providers as needed
  • May conduct individual and group psychotherapy as indicated
  • Document all patient interactions and assist in developing and organizing a program of clinical treatment using the electronic health record (EHR)
Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid California license as a Nurse Practitioner, with furnishing number at the time of appointment
  • Board certification from the ANCC as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with two years' post-license highly preferred
  • At least four years of experience in mental health treatment, working with people who have a diagnosed mental illness
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledge of mental health recovery principles and trauma-informed services, and must be culturally competent
  • Enrolled or eligible to enroll as a Medicare provider (not opted-out)
Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position, requiring 16 hours of work per week. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, with moderate risks that require safety precautions. A valid CA Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance are required.
